New England Overture

Notes on the piece:

I am a born-and-raised New Englander, and thus feel a deep connection to each of the four seasons.  This piece is an overture to the “music” that I hear around me everyday in New England’s little corner of the world.  The piece begins in winter, which I find to be the warmest of seasons, and then continues on into the bustling spring, the multi-faceted summer and the nostalgia of autumn, eventually wrapping itself back around into winter.  Each season takes its own spin on the limited thematic material of the piece, representing the varying differences on the underlying constant. The piece was written at the request of Theodore Antoniou for the 2008 ALEA III International Young Composers’ Workshop.New England Overture
